Virginia Page
Booth
October 11, 1922 – October 23, 2021
SURRY, ME: Virginia Page Getchell Booth passed early on October 23, 2021 on her terms surrounded by her five loving, above average, children.
Mom was predeceased by her parents (Leslie and Frances), an older sister (Barbara) and her husband USAF Ret. Col. John E. Booth. After Dad's death, mom enjoyed 20+ years with loving companion Jack Egan. Mom enjoyed special relationships with immediate family from both who loved her as she did them.
Mom had a special knack of building a home on all our travels to IL, OK, CA, MA, ME, Newfoundland, Thailand and many places in between. We always knew we were cared for, loved and protected. As we settled after Dad retired, mom adjusted to life at one location. That changed after dad died and mom started the travels between FL & ME with lots of excursions.
Mom was a teacher. She taught in the Bangor School System – English Lit., in addition, she taught in Thailand, private tutoring, and teaching English as a second language (the original). She earned an Associate Degree at Bradford College and her Bachelor and Master's degree at UMO. Mom continued as an avid reader, and continued with audio books after her sight started to fail.
Jinny was an engaging, vivacious lady and always doing an activity – church, Girl Scouts, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, DAR, DAC, AAUW, US 1812, 100 th Bomb Group, DKG, reading groups, book club, bridge group, NASCAR Grandma drivers (she was aiming for 102 on her last official lap), and was the first UBER driver (at 86) in FL. She was an active member of the "It's 5:00 somewhere group" and firmly believed that her two glasses of red wine a night helped to 99!
She will be joining Dad at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Mom leaves a great legacy, and she wishes that in lieu of flowers to the family, make a contribution to Cancer Research. She would love for you to wear blue and be nice to a stranger. Mom could make a friend anywhere she went.
