BRADFORD - Viola Rurak, lifelong resident of Bradford, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, February 25, 2013 at the Wingate at Haverhill. Beloved wife of the late of Michael A. Rurak, who passed in 1981.
Mrs. Rurak was born and raised in Haverhill, daughter of the late Anthony and Julia (Verbickas) Buitkas of Lithuania. She was educated in Haverhill schools, and graduate of Haverhill High School.
She was employed in the Haverhill shoe industry, working in various local shoe shops. Once married, Mrs. Rurak began to raise her family. Her activities included gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a loving woman, acting as caregiver to several ill family members throughout the years. Mrs. Rurak was a very religious person, being a parishioner of both the former St. George Lithuanian Church, Haverhill and Sacred Hearts Parish, Bradford.
Her surviving family members include her loving son, Michael P. Rurak and his fiancé Jerrylyn Stefanik of Seabrook Beach, NH; brother, Albert Buitkas of Stoneham; nieces, Mary Beth DeAngelis and her husband Mario, Charlene Ann Flaherty and her husband Steven, and Roberta Martin and her husband Foster; nephew, Stephen Buitkas and his wife Virginia; several grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins; sister of late Annie White.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday morning, February 28, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, (Rte. 125), Bradford from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel of Sacred Hearts Church, 165 So. Main Street, Bradford at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, No. Broadway, Haverhill. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
