Obituary

NORTH ANDOVER, MA: Victor H. Boucher, 91, formerly of Haverhill and North Adams, MA, died February 2, 2011 at Sutton Hill Nursing Center. Mr. Boucher was the husband of Ruth A. (Wheeler) Boucher whom he married on January 29, 1946.

Born in North Adams on May 25, 1919, Mr. Boucher was the son of the late George F. and Corinne M. (Cote) Boucher. He was raised in Cheshire, MA by his grandmother, Sophie (Daudelin) Boucher.

Mr. Boucher served with the U.S. Army Air Corp as a radio technician during WW 11, serving in Florida, the South Pacific and Tokyo, Japan. He was discharged with three Bronze Stars in 1946, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked 38 years as an Electrical Engineer for Sprague Electric Company. Mr. Boucher was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Adams where he served as Life Deacon and Church Treasurer for over 25 years. Known for his love of square and round dancing he served as President of the Hairpin Turners, Cheshire Stompers and instructor of the Melody Rounders. He served the community as a sergeant in the North Adams Special Police and President of the Northern Berkshire Emergency Communication Club. He loved his family dearly and loved taking them camping. He was a great father and grandfather and was known for his witty sense of humor.

He is survived by Ruth, his wife of 65 years and his children: Rev. Charles Boucher and his wife, Cherryl, of Antrim, NH and their children, Elissa, Joshua, Kevin and Rebecca. Dr. Kevin Boucher and his wife, Sandy, of Pomfret, CT and their children, Kathryn, Sarah, Adam and Laura. Cheryl and her husband, Rev. Mark Michel, of Haverhill, MA and their children, Rachael, Joanna and Andrew. He was predeceased by his son Bruce Boucher of Enfield, CT and leaves Bruce's former wife Elaine and their children Steven and Jamie. He was predeceased by his sister Dora Fischlein and brothers Theodore, Arthur, Homer and Oliver Boucher. He leaves 7 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, North Adams, MA on Saturday, March 5th at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Florida, MA in the spring. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 131 Main Street, North Adams, MA 01247.
