Obituary

HAVERHILL - Travis Mitchell Yell, 20, loving son of Melvin Mitchell Yell and Heidi Marie Damiano (Yell), passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston due to a tragic accident that occurred on Saturday October 18, 2014.

He was born in the Riverside section of Haverhill and attended Haverhill Public Schools. Travis went on to attend Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School where he studied the Electrical trade and graduated in 2012. In 2013, he attended two semesters at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, Missouri. He then transferred to Northern Essex Community College, in Haverhill, to continue his education in an effort to pursue a career in criminal justice. At a young age, Travis was an active child involved in gymnastics, Riverside Bradford Little League Baseball, and both Haverhill Youth football and wrestling programs. Travis continued to excel at wrestling and earned one of the Captain positions on the Whittier Vo-Tech's Varsity Wrestling Team. During his prestigious high school wrestling career, he also participated in additional practices held at Smitty's Wrestling Barn in Danville, NH.

When Travis was young, he enjoyed many hobbies like ceramics, puzzles, board games, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, and crafts with his friends and family. He also enjoyed going to the beach, jumping on the trampoline, and spending time with friends in neighborhood pools or on spontaneous adventures. Travis also enjoyed skateboarding, roller skating, fishing, snowboarding, playing video games, and going to the gym. Recently his favorite activity had been learning to cook and enjoying the dishes he created. Even at 20 years old, he loved to watch his favorite childhood show, Scooby Doo. Travis had such a passion for life that he would fully immerse himself in any activity presented to him.

Travis's fearless and competitive nature lead him to be successful at everything he attempted. He began taking risks as a little boy, doing back flips off park benches, which eventually lead to jumping off cliffs. He was an energetic, motivated, and charismatic young man who enjoyed life to the fullest.

Although Travis cared a lot about how his hair looked, how tan his skin was, and how big his muscles were, his main concern was making people laugh and smile. His carefree spirit and desire to make people happy translated into a unique persona that meshed well with children. He took pride in being a role model to others, especially kids. Batman was Travis's superhero role model, and he wanted kids to look up to him like he looked up to Batman. He will forever look over Haverhill like Batman looked over Gotham.

Along with Travis's parents, Melvin and Heidi, he is survived by his 17 year old sister, Nia Marie Yell; paternal grandparents, Melvin S. and Karen Yell, of Colorado Springs CO; maternal grandparents Joseph and Brenda Damiano of Haverhill; several aunts and uncles, Ben, Steve, and John Aragon, David and Emily Aragon, Joan and Bruce Taylor, Karen and David Stamps, Carol and Sam Carey, Wendy Damiano and cousin Quinton Damiano of Lawrence; several other cousins and great aunts and uncles; also childhood friends, including Hunter Tuck, cousin Kyle Clay, Arianna Bouchicas, Parris Williams, and many other close friends; pre-deceased family include Patricia and Paul Singhaus, all of CO.

Visiting hours will be Monday, October 27, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Bradford from 2:00 to 8:00 PM.

His Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, beginning in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
