Bowles

Haverhill: Thomas A. Bowles, 92, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on November 27, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Born in Caribou, ME on April 12, 1925, Mr. Bowles was the son of the late Harry and Patience (Haney) Bowles.
Thomas served with the Army National Guard for eight years as a field telephone operator at Fort Sill, OK. He enjoyed sharing many quaint stories of his youth in Maine with his family. Thomas moved from Maine to accept work in Barre, MA, and then moved to Haverhill in 1962. He worked twenty-five years at the former Western Electric, and retired in 1987 as a Control System Technician. In years past he enjoyed ice-fishing, and later became an avid reader. For twenty years in Haverhill his daily routine included morning breakfast at "McDonalds Steakhouse" on Main Street.
Thomas is survived by his children, Thomas H. Bowles and his wife Sandra of Bow, NH, David N. Bowles of Haverhill, and Carol L. Sanford and her husband Douglas of Ward Hill; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Faye Wardwell of Perham, ME; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his late wife of 56 years, Daisy M. (Grondin) Bowles, he was predeceased by his son Gary S. Bowles, and his devoted companion Matilda "Tillie" Haney.
Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill will be private. At the family's request there will be no calling hours. Private interment on the family lot in Caribou, ME at a later date.
