HAVERHILL - Theresa (O'Reilly) Russell, 89, formerly of Danvers where she resided for almost 50 years, passed away on December 18 after several months at Sutton Hill Nursing Home.

She was born in 1930 in Portland, Maine and the daughter of Patricia (O'Brien) O'Reilly and Jeremiah O'Reilly. She graduated from the University of Maine in 1951 studying Economics and worked at the Aetna Insurance Company. After marrying she taught English in Florida, in Fall River, Mass then moved to a position at Wenham Junior High later Hamilton-Wenham where she taught math. She was a dedicated teacher who was well respected by the staff and the students. She loved participating in the math meets with other schools where her team always excelled under her direction. She kept busy during her summers off making clothes, keeping up on politics, gardening and visiting the Maine coast. Terry took a 2-week trip to Ireland before retiring in 1985. She took courses in programming and taught a computer course to adult education students. After retiring she enjoyed looking after her two grandsons, always the teacher, preparing them for school. She enjoyed her two granddaughters and later great granddaughters in Maine. She also volunteered at the Great Oak School in Danvers helping the kids with math still allowing time to keep up on politics. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, reading, exercising at the senior center, doing crosswords and playing scrabble.

She leaves two daughters, Patricia Burner of Falmouth, ME and Janet Conant of Haverhill, Brian Conant, son in law, 2 grandsons, Alex Conant of Danvers, Jeff Conant and his wife Keri of Beverly, 2 granddaughters Deirdre Burner of Windham, ME, Averil Burner of Brunswick, ME and 3 great grandchildren Alexa Brown and Evelyn Anderson of Maine and the newest addition, David Russell Conant. She was predeceased by her only sister, Patricia Khoury, of Falmouth, MA and her former husband, William Russell of Haverhill.

Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 18, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. All are invited to attend.
