Haverhill: Theodore H. "Ted" Barnard, 80, died August 6, 2011 following a long illness.

Born in Hooksett, NH on February 22, 1931, he was the son of the late Donald L. and Ilene (Ainsworth) Barnard.

Ted was educated in Haverhill and attended Haverhill Trade School. He worked in the maintenance department in real estate. During the Korean Conflict Ted served with the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st Class onboard the USS LST 802. He was a life member and former Treasurer of Lorraine Post #29 V.F.W of Haverhill, and enjoyed fishing at both Round and Plug Pond.

Ted is survived by his son Duane H. Barnard and his mother Betty (Delorm) Burnell of Haverhill; brother, Robert Barnard; sisters, Helen R. Taylor, Winifred I. Hartford, Donna Parker, Lillian Stewart, Linda Leonard, Betty Myers; several nieces and nephews, and his health care provider Kelly McPherson. He was the brother of the late Donald L. Barnard and Eleanor Ryan.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral service on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Dole, Childs& Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Calling hours are Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
