Descoteaux
January 8, 1931 – September 18, 2024
Groveland: Theodore E. "Ted" Descoteaux, 93, passed away peacefully at his home on September 18, 2024 surrounded by those he loved. He was the husband of the late Marjorie (Stevens) Descoteaux to whom he had been married for 58 years.
Born in Haverhill on January 8, 1931, he was the son of the late Clovis and Matilda (Chisholm) Descoteaux.
Ted was educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1950. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving with the 240th Air Base Group at Sedalia Air Force Base in Knob Noster, MO prior to his discharge in 1953.
Ted was an accomplished self-employed carpenter and builder for forty-five years working in New Hampshire and MA where he built many homes, including his own.
Ted enjoyed being outdoors with family and friends. You could often find him at Haverhill Stadium pitching and coaching softball. He and his wife were members of Clipper City Corvette Club and often travelled to the Vineyard for meets. Ted met his wife, Midge, at the Pines Speedway in Groveland and went on to be a proud member of the 1/5th race car team, racing at Star Speedway in Epping, NH. He was an avid golfer, and a member of the Bradford Country Club for years, most recently playing at Heritage Landing Country Club in Punta, Gorda, FL. Ted, Midge and their family enjoyed many vacations at the White Mountains, Cape Cod, cruising the Caribbean and winters in Florida.
Ted is survived by his family, daughters; Denise Rudnicki and husband David of Young Harris, GA, Donna Drinon and husband William of Punta Gorda, FL, Debra Bonanno and husband Anthony of New Durham, NH, Doreen Yacubacci and husband Brian of Groveland, Dena Dehullu and husband Stephen of Groveland; grandchildren; Christi and Catrina Difeo, Daniel Dinan, Brian and Angelina Yacubacci, Stephen, Alex and Julia Dehullu; great grandson, Chase Garcia, and sister, Norma Siwacke of Newburyport; brother, Norman Descoteaux of Boston, and several nieces and nephews. Ted was the father of the late Dianne Descoteaux, and brother of the late Robert Descoteaux.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 26th at 1:00pm, at St. John the Baptist Church on Lincoln Ave. in Haverhill. Interment to follow, with full military honors, at Riverview Cemetery in Groveland. At the family's request there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted memory may be made to Mass. General Hospital and mailed to MGH Cancer Center in Memory of Theodore E.
