Obituary

LEWISTON, ME: Stanley Everett Russell, 97, formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at his home on October 15, 2021.

Born in Haverhill on March 26, 1924 he was the son of the late Albert L. and Amy Udora (Snow) Russell.

Stanley was educated in Haverhill, and on August 19, 1942 entered the United States Army Air Corps., where he served with the 379 Bombardment Group, 8th Air Force. At his discharge, as a PFC on December 4, 1945, his many awards and service ribbons included the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with three battle stars, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge with one (1) bronze cluster and the Victory Medal. On December 1, 1950 he joined the U.S. Air Force and served three years in the Pacific Theater as an Airman Second Class during the Korean War until his discharge in 1953.

Following his Honorable Discharge Stanley worked many years in farming.

Stanley is survived by his daughter Marilyn Barns and her husband James of Union, ME; sister, Edith DeVeau and her husband Donald. Stanley was pre-deceased by his siblings, Leslie Kenisten and Florence Belmont.
