HAVERHILL - Smaragda "Margie" Dimakis of Bedford, NH, and formerly of Haverhill, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the Concord Regional VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH.

Margie was born on January 13, 1931, in the town of Vrondados on the Islands of Chios, Greece, to her parents Ioannis and Markela Bougioukas. She immigrated to the United States with her husband Dimitrios Dimakis, and their three children in 1970. Margie worked as a seamstress for many years at the Samuel Roberts Company and at Davco Industries before leaving to assist her children as they began their family business in New Hampshire.

Margie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and Yiayia who treasured her time spent with family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her endless pride and joy. She enjoyed nothing more than cooking for them and then sitting down to listen to all that was going on in their lives and giving them direction. Margie felt a deep connection to her native land and loved spending summers in Greece catching up with relatives and friends who remained there.

Family members include her children Konstandinos Dimakis and his wife Zoi of Merrimack, NH, George Dimakis and his wife Linda of Bedford, NH and Katerina Tsihlis and her husband Manes of Contoocook, NH; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Greece. Margie was predeceased by her husband Dimitrios Dimakis in 2008 and brothers Liondis and Markos Bougioukas and her sister Vagella Glikas.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 22, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill, MA (Rte. 125) from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Services will begin Monday in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Funeral Service in the Holy Apostles Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter Street, Haverhill at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Margie's memory to either the Concord VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301, or Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
