PLAISTOW, NH: Shirley M. Seavey, 93, formerly of Groveland, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2023 at Wingate of Haverhill. She was the wife of Albert V. Seavey to whom she had been married for seventy years.
Born in Tewksbury on January 2, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Jessie (Miller) Demers.
Raised and educated in Haverhill, Shirley graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1947. Following her marriage to Al in 1950 they moved to Groveland where they lived for 64 years and raised their family.
During her career she worked at the former Western Electric, as a real estate agent, and for forty years as bookkeeper at First Baptist Church. Shirley's life was guided by her motto, FFFF, faith, family, friends, and freedom. During her forty-year faithful and active membership at First Baptist Church Shirley served as chairperson of the Board of Christian Education, president of the Mary-Martha group, Sunday school teacher, Deaconess, member of Ladie's Aid Missionary Society and the church's bell choir. She served as president of the Groveland Garden Club. Her active lifestyle had centered around roller skating, bowling, tennis and entertaining. After extensive traveling her passion was the family camp on Rattlesnake Island on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Shirley is survived by her children, William V. Seavey and his wife Kelly of Wolfeboro, NH, Catherine Clark and her husband Arthur of Plaistow, NH, Paul A. Seavey and his wife Linda of Nottingham, NH; grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel, Alex, Kristina; great grandchildren, Juliana, and Collin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, August 25th at 12:00 noon, at First Baptist Church in Haverhill followed with interment at Linwood Cemetery. Donations in Shirley's name may be made to Trustees of First Baptist Church, 217 Main St., Haverhill, MA 01830. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.dcsfuneralhome.com.
