Scott P.
Schulz
March 15, 1956 – June 16, 2018
HAVERHILL - Scott P. Schulz, 62, of Bradford, MA, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2018, while pursuing his passion for fishing and enjoying the wilderness of Maine. He was the devoted husband of Kris Schulz for 37 years and father to Samantha (Brian Komorous) and Stefan (Julia Del Muro), as well as a loving grandfather to Lennon Grace. He left behind his mother Jo Ann (Charles Fields) of Thomaston, ME and his mother in law Carol Peterson of Glen, NH. He was predeceased by his father in-law Bob Peterson.
He was born in Morristown, NJ, to Jo Ann and the late Gary Schulz. Living all over the Northeast throughout his childhood, Scott's interests and passions were diverse. With a contingent of family located in Cleveland, TN, he frequented the area and developed a love for University of Tennessee football. His family later settled in Rockland, ME, where Scott graduated from Rockland District High School. He was an avid athlete-a trait he passed on to his children-and played varsity football, baseball and basketball for Rockland.
While attending the University of Maine, Scott met Kris, the love of his life and his best friend. He graduated with a BS in Fisheries Biology and conducted research and field studies in the State of Maine. After graduation, Scott spent his 40-year business development career engaging clients, influencing decisions and closing business in the fields of life sciences, telecommunications and technology for various companies.
The outdoors was a second home to Scott, and he reveled in hiking and spending time with friends and family on his boat, exploring the lakes of Maine and visiting his favorite fishing spots. One of his favorite places to spend time with his family was in the Belgrade Lakes region on Great Pond, where he enjoyed the sound of loons, snorkeling and fishing.
Family was most important to Scott, and he adored the newest member, Lennon Grace. He also liked to cook, listen to music and relax on his porch watching thunderstorms. Scott's love of sports spilled into his free time, where he was often seen on the sidelines mentoring local youth in the community. He was a regular fixture at his children's sporting events, as both a coach and fan, and never missed a game regardless of the distance. When his children grew out of college athletics, he became an umpire for local softball leagues, spent time refereeing basketball games and volunteered for the Special Olympics.
Scott was known for his knowledge of many subjects and his energetic personality. His appreciation for life and dedication to those around him led to many fulfilling and rewarding years. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, June 30, in Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill, MA from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Period of Remembrance will begin shortly after. His love for sports has inspired the family to establish an athletic memorial scholarship to help young athletes as they pursue their dreams. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Scott's memory to the Scott P. Schulz Memorial Scholarship Fund at Haverhill Bank, 163 South Main Street, Bradford, MA, 01835.
