GROVELAND - Russell L. Six, 83, of Groveland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones.
Russell was born in Jacksonville, IL on November 2, 1934, son of the late Allen Six and Genevieve (Westrope) Six. He graduated from Jacksonville High School and then attended the Culver Military Academy. Following the Academy, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for four years and served on the USS Tarawa. After his time in the service, Russell worked at the Daniel Print Company in Boston in his early years and then retired from General Electric in Lynn, after many years managing field construction.
Russell loved playing horseshoes and was also a beekeeper. He also had a passion for drawing, music, animals and nature. He was a loving and caring man and will be greatly missed.
His surviving family members include his loving wife Anne Six of Groveland; children Liz Benson and husband Steve of Groveland, Russ Six and wife Gaby of Virginia; grandchildren Christopher Benson and wife Elaine, Sarah Collin and husband Brian, Dave Six, Danny Six, Russell Six, Jr., Michael Six, Isabella Six and Rozelyn Six; great-grandchildren Samuel and Connor Benson and Jameson and Steven Collins; sisters Sharon Dobson and husband Bill and Sheila Lohrence and husband Dave all of Jacksonville, IL; he was the brother of the late Bob and Ronald Six, Irene Little and Neta Birdell.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 25, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Services will begin Thursday in the funeral home at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Interment with U.S. Navy Honors will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown.
