GROVELAND, MA: Rosemarie-Joanne (Meeker) Boothroyd, 70, formerly of Torrington, CT, passed away on November 9, 2011 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA surrounded by those she loved.
Born in Torrington, CT on June 22, 1941, Ms Boothroyd was the daughter of the late Lester and Danata-Maria (Pietrafesa) Meeker.
Ms Boothroyd was educated in Torrington, CT where she lived all her life until her illness required her to move to Groveland to be with her daughter. Ms Boothroyd showed her charitable nature not only in contributions but as a co-founder of a support group for those afflicted with Crohn's disease and ulcerated colitis at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She enjoyed her cat "Nina", playing the organ, cooking, and traveling with her companion Bob Meyer to Cape Coral, FL in the winter months.
Ms Boothroyd is survived by her children, Danielle Maloney and her husband Thomas of Groveland, MA, son, Glen Martello and his wife Kimberly of Thomasville, GA; grandchildren, Sara and Matthew Maloney; siblings, Lester Meeker, Jr., Sandra-Jean DeNeault and her husband Norman, Priscilla-Ann Rivera and her husband Victor, aunt, Rose Barbero, all of Torrington, CT; her former husband and children's father Anthony "Tony" Martello of Torrington, CT, and longtime companion Robert "Bob" Meyer of North Egremont, MA. She was the sister of the late Mae-Emily Rivera, and aunt of the late Victor "Torrio" Rivera and Donna-Marie Rivera.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass at St. Peter's Church on Friday, November 18th at 10:30
a.m. At the families request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill, MA. Donations in her memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
