ATKINSON, NH - Rosa (Palermo) Giacalone, 70, died Thursday, December 3, 2015, peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Salemi, Sicily on May 25, 1945, and is the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Pisano) Palermo. She traveled to this country from Sicily at the age of 11 and settled in Amesbury and is a graduate of Amesbury High School, class of 1964. She attended and graduated from Fazio School of Hair Design in Lawrence, MA in 1966.
She made long lasting friendships while she worked at Raytheon for 38 years and since retiring in 2007 she loved traveling with her late husband Francis P. Giacalone, especially to Aruba and spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a strong woman, a fighter, a loving and devoted mother and a kind and caring grandmother to her two grandsons Caleb and Asher.
She is survived by her two cherished daughters Ann Marie Giacalone of Atkinson, NH and Kristina Dupes and husband Brian of Londonderry, NH; sister Josephine LaBelle and husband Eugene of Haverhill; four brothers Jay Palermo and wife Shirley of Amesbury, Tony Palermo and wife Linda of Laconia, NH, Pino Palermo and wife Sheila of Haverhill and Peter Palermo of Raymond, NH; sister in-law, Frances Giglio of Somerville; grandsons Caleb and Asher Dupes as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning, December 9, 2015, beginning in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, (Rte. 125), Bradford at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, North Broadway.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday in the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
