HAVERHILL - Ronald Merrick, 91, lifelong Haverhill resident passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2016 in Amesbury.

Ronald was born in Haverhill on August 1, 1925, son of Val and Ernestine Merrick. He attended Haverhill schools and graduated from Haverhill Trade School. Ronald is a veteran having enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and again during the Korean War. He worked for many years at Avco in Haverhill, manufacturing parts used for government contracts and later retired as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Haverhill. Ronald enjoyed being with his family and the time spent in the warm sun in Florida.

His surviving family members include his loving wife Ruth Merrick of Haverhill; daughters Joyce Merrick, Lisa Comeau, Linda Carnes and husband John, Brenda Malenfant and Kathy Nelson; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Carol Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with U.S. Navy Honors will be offered Thursday, November 17, at 1:00 PM in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Contributions may be made in Ronald's memory to either Fidelis Hospice, 25 Railroad Square, Haverhill, MA 01832 or to the MSPCA Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
