Robert George Turner of Haverhill passed at home peacefully at age 91 surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Alberta, Canada to his parents Charles and Freida Turner. They lived in Canada for most of their lives where Robert and his siblings Donald, Dolores, Joan, Kenneth and Bernice Turner lived in their family farm creating fond memories. Here is where he gained his natural ability of husbandry and the green thumb that remained throughout his life.

Robert moved to Washington State with his family where he was drafted to serve in the Army in Hawaii where he was eventually baptized as a Jehovah Witness. His love of God led him to be a missionary where he served all throughout the United States and eventually was sent to the Dominican Republic. Where he became enamored of the Dominican culture so much so he eventually became a literal Dominican. Once he was there he met his beloved wife Zunilda. They married in 1974 and lived a love story that only ended at the end of his life. Never would you see one without the other. There was not one August where they did not celebrate their love in some wonderful way. Even Alzheimers could not prevent him from forgetting the love of his life. When he could no longer leave the house, it was up to his children to buy the gifts and cards he wanted for his "Zuna".

Robert also became an elder in his congregation where he served his community fully providing love, support and spiritual guidance. Countless people came to love God not only through His word but for how he lived. In Matthew 7:16 "by their fruits you will recognize them". Robert lived in such a way as there was no doubt of who he was. He was kindhearted, selfless to a fault and commonly described as a gentle soul. He was always remembered as the Dad everyone wanted. From being the designated dad to push the kids on the swings, run them around the merry go round, take them to Canobie Lake where he stood in line so the kids could cut the line. Eventually being bossed around as a chauffeur for all his teenagers and their friends. Neighborhood children, his nieces and nephews and those from the congregation all just truly loved his spirit.

Many would not know this side of Robert, but he also had a funny dry sense of humor that remained all throughout his life. He was the master of all Dad jokes. His favorite dad outfit was dad bermuda shorts, cheesy tourist t-shirt white knee-high socks and camcorder on his shoulder.

He was known as Bobby by his family and as "Turner" by members of his spiritual family but had the wonderful title of "daddy" by his children and grandchildren. Whatever name you call him, just know he was truly a Great man.

Survived by his wife Zunilda, children Kattie Turner, Bernice Turner and Jeffrey Turner with his wife Jessica Turner along with their grandchildren Jordan Flete, Breanyce Flete, Sebastian Turner Sanchez and Olivia Turner and Zoey Turner.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will will be Friday in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery. For guestbook, visit www.driscollcares.com
