HAVERHILL: Robert D. Ledwith, 83, passed away January 27, 2020 at High Pointe House surrounded by the love of his family. He was the husband of Carole (Gray) Ledwith.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 18, 1936, he was the son of the late Andrew B. and Mildred D. (Davis) Ledwith.
Following his graduation from Schenley Standard Evening High School, Robert attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduated from Westminster College, and attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Robert worked as a Computer Engineer for many years before retiring in 2003 from JEOL, Inc. of Peabody, MA. He was a member of the Byfield Parish Church in Georgetown, and served twenty-two years in the Stephen Ministries International, seven years of which as a Stephen leader. Robert had been an amateur (Ham) radio enthusiast with the call signal W3WSZ. He served as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves before receiving an Honorable Discharge following nine years of service.
Besides his wife of sixty-one years, Robert is survived by his children, Daniel R. Ledwith and wife Amanda of Haverhill, Rebecca Lynne Ledwith of Lynn, David William Ledwith of Danvers; six grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Ledwith of Sidney, OH, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Andrew Bryce Ledwith, III, and Marjorie R. Ledwith.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, February 15th at 11:00am, at West Congregational Church, 767 Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01832.
