Joseph Albanese
November 14, 1927 – February 26, 2024
HAVERHILL - Robert 'Bob' Albanese went home to God on February 26, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was a happy, loving family man who was admired and loved by all.
Born in Haverhill on November 14, 1927 to Albert Albanese and Mary (Monticelli). A graduate of Haverhill Trade School, he also attended Merrimack College. Bob joined the Navy at age 17 and served our country in Europe and Japan. Upon his return, he began work at Western Electric Co., and AT&T as a tool design engineer until his retirement.
He was a member of the Western Electric Ski Club and he ran the Western Electric Golf League. He also played with the St. Joseph Golf League. Occasionally, Bob enjoyed the role of bus escort on trips to Atlantic City. He loved traveling; he visited many locations in the US, Canada, and Europe. Bob was an enthusiastic member of Cedardale Athletic Club where he met his wife Margaret. It was where he could regularly be found doing his exercise routine or playing tennis.
Bob is survived by his wife Margaret (Fahy), his daughters, Janice Vinci and Judi Albanese and her husband Bill Bluemel, his son Gary Albanese and wife Laurie and his beloved granddaughter Robin Vinci, all of Haverhill. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his first wife, Alice, infant daughter Tamara and son in law Richie Vinci. He is also predeceased by his brother, Richard Albanese, and sisters Barbara Munroe and Rita Skinner.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will begin Saturday in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's name may be made to All Saints Food Pantry, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill, MA 01832 or Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
