MERRIMAC, MA: Robert Billings Jones, 86, husband of Clara Shirley (Craig) Jones, passed away on September 20, 2013 at Country Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Newburyport.

Born in Laconia, NH on August 23, 1927, Robert was the son of the late Berley and Rena (Billings) Jones.

He worked for the former Western Electric for many years as a coil winder before his retirement. During the war Robert served in the U.S. Army with H/S Company, 116 Combat Engineer Bn. before being Honorably Discharged as a Corporal in 1946.

Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill were private, and held at the convenience of his family.
