Obituary

SOUTH HAMPTON, NH: Robert A. Davis, 96, formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Mr. Davis was the husband of the late Ada M. (Kimball) Davis.

Born in Salem, MA on October 10, 1918, Mr. Davis was the son of the late Willard E. and Esther S. (Wing) Davis.

Following his education in Haverhill, he began a forty year career as a truck driver working for Diamond Match Lumber Co. and Airborne Express before retiring in 1985.

Mr. Davis served two tours of duty with the U.S. Navy. During WWll he served in the Pacific Theater onboard the destroyer, USS Renshaw, and during the Korean War onboard the battleship USS Missouri, BB-63. Among his many awards was the Asiatic-Pacific service ribbon with 10 battle stars for service at Saipan, Tinian, Guam and Leyte. Mr. Davis loved his family and nation deeply, and served them both with dignity.

He is survived by sons, Robert W. Davis of Alabama, Richard C. Davis and wife Kris of Berlin, NH; daughters, Betty Ann Cassidy and husband James, Jr. of South Hampton, NH, Bonnie Craft of Haverhill; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard C. Davis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, May 22nd, at 12:00 noon, at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
