HAVERHILL - Richard "Dick" John Sullivan, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, surrounded by his family at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford.
Dick was born in Haverhill on March 20, 1932, one of seven children of Daniel and Ann (Donahue) Sullivan. He was predeceased by his wife Joanne (Dawkins) Sullivan in April of 1993 and daughter Ellen (Sullivan) Galloway in July 2017.
Dick served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for over 30 years as a Union Ironworker Local 351, a job he loved and was proud of. He was an avid golfer and a fan of New England's sports teams.
He is survived by his loving children Richard, Sean (Mary) and Theresa; grandchildren Deric (Kate), Parker, Zachary, Julia, Aaron, Lauren, Patrick and Ava; great-grandchildren Karter and Brady. He also leaves behind his siblings Joseph Sullivan, Barbara Casey, Gerald Sullivan; son in-law Chris Galloway; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Services with U.S. Army Honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. Contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, David James Hospice Unit-2C, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730.
