PORTSMOUTH, NH: Richard A. Patterson, 84, formerly of Haverhill and Dover, NH, passed away on August 29, 2012. Mr. Patterson was the husband of the late Audrey N. (DeRusha) Patterson.

Born in Haverhill on March 8, 1928, Richard was the son of the late Floyd E. and Mabel (Allen) Patterson. He served as an Able Seaman with the U.S. Navy and was station onboard many ships including the NTS Bainbridge and USS Kearsarge. He worked many years for Bourneville Ford in Lowell before retiring as General Manager. Richard is survived by his son, James R. Patterson and his wife Nancy of Portsmouth, NH with whom he lived.

Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill will be private with interment at Elmwood Cemetery.
