PLAISTOW, NH - Richard 'Dick' Letourneau, Jr. of Plaistow, NH, passed away early Christmas morning after losing his battle with esophageal cancer.

Dick was born bald as a cue ball in Haverhill MA, on February 10, 1950 and got hairier each day since. Dick was proud to be a grumpy old man, a feat that Dick described as not a choice, but rather a lifestyle.

Dick was an Army Veteran, having served as a medic in Vietnam. Dicks willingness to help others led him into the medical field managing a lab, and then teaching himself how to program laboratory software, a position he held into his 70's. Dick proudly served as an AA sponsor, showing others the path they could walk on if they only took the first step.

The only thing more important than helping others was his family. The love of his life Susan passed away in 2017 and Dick filled the time surrounded by his three daughters and his seven grandchildren. Dick enjoyed living life to the fullest having driven solo across Canada and back through the states. He also saw the Grand Canyon, and Newfoundland this year in his travels. Dick loved the Red Sox always, and the Patriots in any year but 2023. Dick was also an avid pool and billiard player having played for 60 years.

While Dick is finally reunited with his wife Sue, he leaves behind daughters Megan and husband Chad Ashworth of North Andover, Rachel and husband Mark Guida of Haverhill, and Caitlyn and husband William Medugno of Haverhill, sister Beth Letourneau and partner Louise Gemmell of Nashua, NH and sister-in-law Denise Letourneau of Elliot, ME. Dick also leaves nephew Tim Hartnett whom he considered a son, as well as nieces Yvonne, Debbie, Alyssa, and nephews Paul, Billy, John, Eli, Skylar, and Canaan. Dick's grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Tyler, Jason, Madelyn, Dexter, Abby, Hope and Riley will remember the silly songs Papa would sing, his ability to make a potato appear out of thin air, fishing trips and his wild stories. He was the kind of Papa to show up unannounced with donuts or candy for the kids, a turtle he rescued from the road, or some pond water he wants to show you under his microscope.

Surrounded by so much love Dick often thought of Lou Gehrig's farewell speech in the past few months while he fought the cancer and considered himself to be the luckiest man alive.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will be Wednesday in the funeral home at 10:00 AM.
