(Emerson) Gordon
July 11, 1918 – February 3, 2009
HAMPSTEAD, NH: Priscilla J. (Emerson) Gordon, 90, died Tuesday at the Rockingham County Complex in Brentwood, NH. Mrs. Gordon was the wife of the late C. Earle Gordon.
Born in Haverhill on July 11, 1918, Mrs. Gordon was the daughter of the late Herbert B. and Dora (Caswell) Emerson.
Upon graduating from Haverhill High School in 1936 she continued her education at MacIntosh Business School in Haverhill. Mrs. Gordon had worked as Secretary/Bookkeeper for the John D. Osgood Co., and then worked as a Dental Assistant in Haverhill schools for the Haverhill Health Department for 29 years before her retirement in 1983. She was a longtime member of Riverside Memorial Church and the Women's Guild, was a charter member of Haverhill Chapter #39, Order of Rainbow for Girls, was co-organizer, and troop leader, of Girl Scout Troop #17 and member of the Walnut Square P.T.A.
Mrs. Gordon is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ann Pike of Nampa, ID; sons, Richard E. Gordon of East Kingston, NH, Ronald P. Gordon and his wife Linda of North Ft. Myers, FL; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Martin of Wakefield, MA, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Harriet Thurlow and Staff Sergeant Herbert B. Emerson, Jr. who died in WWII.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Sunday 2:00 p.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Interment, in the spring, at Riverview Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Emerson Memorial Fund at Riverside Memorial Church, 278 Groveland Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
