Paul C.
Schive
November 13, 1924 – March 16, 2019
MERRIMAC, MA: Paul C. Schive, 94, passed away March 16, 2019 at Greystone Farm at Salem in Salem, NH.
Paul was born in Danville, PA on November 13, 1924. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWll, and served as a Staff Sergeant and radio operator with the 16th Bombardment Group during many combat missions over Tokyo, Japan. Paul was also a member of the Burma-China Command which flew 500 miles over "The Hump", a portion of the Eastern Himalayas, taking supplies into China in support Gen. Chaing Ki Shek. The difficulty of these missions was compounded by a lack of reliable charts, an absence of radio navigation aid, and lack of weather information.
Paul's interest in photography led to work at the Haverhill Gazette, and later as a photographer in Reading, PA. Paul maintained his own photo business where he freelanced covering weddings, bar mitzvahs, portrait sessions, and commercial photography. Before retirement Paul worked many years as a technician for Verizon.
Paul had been a member of the Merrimac Baptist Church before transferring his membership to First Baptist Church in Haverhill where he taught Sunday school. He had a longtime interest in, and became proficient as a handwriting analyst.
Paul is survived by many loving and devoted friends at First Baptist Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday evening, March 21st at 6:00 pm, at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill.
