PLAISTOW, NH: Neil F. Walker, 87, died peacefully on February 17, 2011 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. Mr. Walker was the husband of June B. (Littlefield) Walker.

Born in Haverhill on July 13, 1923, Neil was the son of the late William and Grace (Fletcher) Walker.

Neil graduated from Haverhill High School and Worcester Academy, and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from M.I.T. in 1945. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy, and completed his OCS training at Columbia University. He then served as an Engineering Officer in both the Philippines and Hawaii. After his discharge he joined the family business, Braley & Walker, Inc. where he worked until retiring as president in 1988.

He was a member of the Portland Street Baptist Church and Haverhill Rotary Club. He served on the Board of Directors of the Griffin White Foundation and the Appeals Board in Plaistow. Neil was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the Haverhill Country Club. He also enjoyed the many hours spent walking with his wife and tending to the family flower garden.

Besides his wife of 65 years, Neil is survived by his children, Douglas Walker and his wife Lorna of Sandown, NH, Thomas Walker and his wife Judy of San Diego, CA, Susan Coppeta and her husband David of Atkinson, NH; eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Arlene.

Friends are invited to the calling hours on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. The funeral service and interment at Elmwood Cemetery will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
