LAWRENCE - On December 1, 2023, the Horton family said goodbye to their beloved mother and abuela.

Miriam passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Miriam E. Horton was born in Samana, Dominican Republic, and came to the United States with her sisters Martha and Jacqueline in 1965.

After arriving in the U.S., she was embraced by the Brito family, Rev. Issac, Aurora, Gustavo, Nelson, Samuel, Ruben & Israel who gave her another family to call hers and loved her deeply.

She later went on to have a family of her own and is survived by her three children, Diogenes, Benjamin, and Raquel Horton who blessed her with eight loving grandchildren; JR, Felicia, Miriam, Annabelle, Josie, Joeliz, Joenya, and Maxwell and six great-grandchildren; Dionelly, De'Lijah, Junaraliz, Lizjunet, Inyahlis, and Dior. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Martha, Evelyn, Esther, Jocelyn, Carlos, and Esteban.

Miriam was a kind and religious woman. Whether you were family or a stranger, she would always welcome you with a warm cup of coffee or a hot plate of food. Miriam will be remembered for her selflessness and everlasting desire to help others in their times of need. She demonstrated this love and care for others through her final days.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and had the opportunity to be loved by her.

Miriam's visitation will be Sunday, December 10, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. It is with the deepest sadness we say our final goodbye to her on Monday beginning at 11:00 AM. Funeral Service at 12:00 PM.
