Obituary

NORTH ANDOVER: Miriam Anne Mulrenin Doherty, 98, formerly of Andover, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 22, 2019 at Brightview-North Andover. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph B. Doherty, Sr.
Born on April 5, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Dudley J.C. and Anne (Kaine) Mulrenin.
Following her graduation from Notre Dame Academy in Boston, Miriam continued her studies at The Pierce School. During World War ll, Miriam worked first as a secretary for the War Department in Washington, and later for the Navy in Charlestown, MA in the War Bond office where she met her future husband, Joseph B. Doherty, whom she married in 1944. Her support of her husband and devotion to her family were the focus of her life.
Miriam is survived by her children, Anne Doherty of Andover, William Doherty and his wife Arlyn of GA, J.B. Doherty, Jr. and his companion Leslie Costello of North Andover, Christopher Doherty and his wife Sheryl of Andover, Jane Bailey and her husband Glenn of Merrimac, MA; four grandchildren; one great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 26th, at 10:00 AM, at St Augustine Church in Andover. The Mass will conclude with interment at St Augustine Cemetery. At the family's request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill.
