WESTON, MA: Mildred L. "Millie" (Shaw) Davis, 83, formerly of Haverhill, died peacefully in her sleep at home on August 11, 2011 surrounded by those she loved. She was the wife of the late Herbert Millington Davis, Jr. who died in 1979.

Born in Haverhill, MA on October 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Wesley J. Shaw, Sr. and Annie M. (MacNevin) Shaw.

Millie graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1946, and continued her education graduating as a dental hygienist from Forsythe School of Dental Hygiene in Boston. Initially she worked in Kansas for the Federal Government in the fluoride program before returning Boston where she worked as a hygienist until her marriage. Her family was the center of her life and she valued the time spent with them. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston for more than fifty years where she was a member of the choir. Millie enjoyed vacationing with her family at Lake Winnipesaukee in NH, and working in her flower garden.

Millie is survived by her children, Laurie Gambee and her husband James of Kinderhook, NY, Herbert M. Davis, 111 and his wife Mary of Campton, NH; grandchildren, Miles, Trenton, Brooke, Connor, Sarah and Elizabeth. She was the sister of the late Hazel West and Wesley J. Shaw, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to the memorial service on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Weston. Calling hours at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street will precede the service from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Internment at Linwood Cemetery.
