HAVERHILL- Michael P. Burke, Sr., 64, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, after his courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born on April 8, 1951, one of eleven children of the late George J. Burke, Sr. and Ann Elizabeth (Reynolds) Burke. He was raised and educated in Methuen and was a longtime Haverhill resident.

He worked at Logan Airport for several years until beginning his career with Whittier Health Network in the position of Director of Engineering, a job and career he derived great pleasure in performing.

Michael's activities included playing golf, scuba diving, watching football and going to the beach. Most of all spending time with his family, friends and especially his four granddaughters. Michael was an amazing man with a heart of gold and will be truly missed by all that love him.

The Burke Family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff of the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, for their support and care they gave to Michael in his final days.

His surviving family members include his loving children, Michael P. Burke, Jr. and wife Joanne of Tewksbury and Erin M. Murphy and husband Christopher of Concord, NC; siblings, George Burke and wife Linda of Methuen, Arthur Burke and wife Betty of Londonderry, Lisbeth Fitzgerald of WA, Joseph Burke of Methuen, Shaun Burke and wife Louise of CA, Patrice Friant of FL, Colleen and Christos Papaefthemiou of Haverhill and Cathleen Burke of Methuen; grandchildren, Colleen Burke, Calli Burke, Caitlin Murphy and Madison Murphy; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces great-nephews, aunts and cousins; brother of the late Kerin and Christopher Burke.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, May 14, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill (Rte.125), at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held Wednesday in the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
