Obituary

PLAISTOW, NH - Michael J. Barry passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 13, 2019 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill.

Mike grew up in Haverhill and Groveland and graduated from Pentucket Regional High School and the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Guam. Mike worked for AT&T and then Lucent Technologies for over twenty years and later worked for Regan Ford for many years. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 34 Plaistow, NH and proud and longstanding member of the Garibaldi Club of Haverhill where he formed lifelong friendships.

Mike loved spending summer days at Jenness Beach and traveling to Las Vegas. He was an avid Boston sports fan, and especially loved the Patriots, even back when you "couldn't give the seats away!" as he would often joke. He was an outstanding baseball player, and later in life enjoyed being an umpire. He was also a skilled softball player and was a member of the Air Force league, and later played on the Shoe City adult softball team.

His surviving family members include his wife Jane (Meader) (Petrou) Barry of Plaistow, NH; mother Beatrice (Alonzi) White of Haverhill; daughters Katrina Jackson and husband Greg, of Salem, NH, Jessica Barry of Salem, NH and Amanda Barry of Leominster; stepchildren Jason Petrou and wife Leanne of Haverhill and Colleen Petrou of Boston; brother Robert White, Jr. and his Jeanette of Reno, NV; and brother in-law David Meader and wife Stephanie of Plaistow, NH. He will be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren Dillon, Wesley, Patrick and Isla; and leaves behind many loving cousins across the country. He was predeceased by his stepfather Robert White, Sr., father Joseph Barry and sister, Maureen (Barry) Hall.

Mike loved talking and connecting with people. He easily made friends with everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
