HAVERHILL - Melvin J. Reed, 72, of Norwood entered into rest on his birthday, May 16, 2016.

Born in Haverhill, loving son of Melvin C. and Mary Reed. Melvin's surviving family members include his lifelong companion Nancy Shirling; loving children Terri Geary and husband Robert Geary, Kim L. Cottens and husband Stephen Cottens, Melvin J. Reed, Jr. and wife Lisa Reed, Francis W. Reed and wife Andrea Reed, Lindsey Louise Reed and fiancé Tony Lewis; siblings Margaret Reed, Mary Guilmette, Mark Reed, Matthew Reed and Marty Reed and the late Michael Reed; cherished grandchildren Stephen M. Cottens, Robert Geary, Lauren Geary, Christopher Geary, Taylor Reed, Haley Reed, Reed Cottens, Caeli Reed, and Cameron Reed; will be dearly missed by Terri and Lloyd Weida.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 18 in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood, MA 02062 at 11:00 AM. Celebration of Life will follow.
