GROVELAND - Maureen (Reynolds) Desmond, 90, of Groveland passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on Tuesday evening, December 8, 2020.

Mrs. Desmond was born on September 13, 1930 in Haverhill, MA. Daughter of the late Arthur and Juliann Reynolds, she was raised in Haverhill and graduated from St. James High School. Maureen met her husband Bill while he was serving in the Navy and they married October 1, 1950. They had over 60 years of wonderful marriage together until his death in July 2013.

Maureen and Bill started married life in Byram, CT where she began her career in banking. She continued her career in banking in Massachusetts until retiring from Banknorth.  Both of Maureen's sons, Dennis and Kevin, were born in CT. In 1968 the family moved to Massachusetts settling in Methuen and then on to Plum Island. They lived on Plum Island for over 27 years before moving to Groveland, MA.

She was an avid reader and loved sharing her favorite books with family and friends.  Maureen loved cooking for friends and family and she would always have something going in the kitchen whenever you went over. Sharing food and drink was one of her greatest joys in life. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends before the couple settled down later in life.

Her surviving family members include her sons Dennis Desmond of Groveland and Kevin Desmond and his wife Rosemary of Haverhill; grandchildren Dennis Gelinas, Ryan Desmond and Sean Desmond; many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She joins her husband Bill and her only sister Betty Burke in heaven.

Visitation will be held on Saturday morning, December 12, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John the Baptist Church , 110 Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
