MaryAnn
Piantedosi
January 18, 1947 – May 25, 2026
MaryAnn Piantedosi passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at the age of 79. Born in Boston on January 18, 1947, MaryAnn spent her early childhood in Medford before moving to Bedford, Massachusetts, where she was raised alongside her two siblings. It was during these formative years that she developed the passions that would remain with her throughout her life — cooking, gardening, decorating, and creating a warm and beautiful home for those she loved.
After graduating from Bedford High School, MaryAnn married Joseph Palumbo, and together they raised three daughters: Leah, Jolene, and Kara. MaryAnn and Joe settled in Littleton to raise their young family. She cherished her years as a homemaker and created a home filled with warmth, tradition, and hospitality.
Once her daughters reached high school, MaryAnn began a career in real estate before discovering her true creative calling in interior design. She became a talented and successful interior designer, known for her eye for beauty and her ability to make every space feel welcoming and elegant.
A lifelong learner with a deep appreciation for wellness and spirituality, MaryAnn pursued alternative healing practices including meditation, nutrition, and acupuncture. She served on the board of the Manchester Acupuncture Clinic and embraced many artistic and creative pursuits throughout her life, including Chinese brush painting, calligraphy, gilding, and other forms of art.
MaryAnn found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time at the beach, especially in Bar Harbor, Maine, and enjoyed winters in Vermont. She was an excellent cook, an avid reader, and loved playing mahjong. Classical music and evenings at the Boston Ballet brought her great joy. The holidays were especially meaningful to her, and she treasured hosting Christmas Eve celebrations in her beautifully decorated home, adorned with fresh gardenias on the mantel, pistachio cones and icicles on the tree.
Family was always at the center of MaryAnn’s life. She treasured attending birthdays, graduations, recitals, and every important milestone including being the first place the grandchildren drove after getting their license. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, including taking them to weekly horseback riding lessons, picking blackberries, bird watching, spending time in nature and supporting their many interests and accomplishments. Her great-grandchildren brought her endless joy, and she delighted in hearing stories of her family’s adventures both at home and around the world. She lived vicariously through her children's and grandchildren's travels including London, Paris, Italy, Brazil, Peru and Japan. She was deeply proud of the lives and careers her family built and celebrated each of their successes with genuine love and enthusiasm. Her love and devotion to her family were evident in every aspect of her life. She was a caring and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in the people she loved most.
MaryAnn is survived by her loving daughters Leah Palumbo and son-in-law John O’Brien of Bolton; her granddaughter Carmen Sousa and her husband Stephen Sousa of Harvard, and her Great grand daughter Charlotte; and her granddaughter Michaela Palumbo and her fiancé Charlie Canty of Dunstable; Jolene Palumbo of Bolton and her grandson Christopher Vasconcelos; and Kara Diorio and son-in-law Mike Diorio of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire; her granddaughter Chloe Diorio-Bowes; and her great-grandchildren Olive and William.
MaryAnn will be deeply missed and will always be in the hearts and minds of her many loving relatives and dear friends whose lives she touched with kindness, creativity, warmth, and generosity.
