CHELMSFORD - Mary Kathleen Waters of Chelmsford and Lowell, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Westford House Nursing Home where she had been a longtime resident.
Kathleen was born in Baltimore, MD on July 31, 1934, daughter of John G. and Elizabeth A (Kelly) Lacey. She was preceded in death by her siblings John G. Lacey, Jr., Mary Elizabeth Coleman and Charles T. Lacey; two children Theresa and William Waters; and former husband John E. Waters. Surviving family members include her sisters Dorothy Feeley and husband Francis and Clare Gilliland; sisters in-law Joyce Lacey and Karlos Lacey and her brother in-law Joseph Coleman; loving children Kathy Lamourine and husband Mark, John Waters and wife Amanda and Michael Waters and wife Mayumi; grandchildren Chiara and Jenna Lamourine, Savannah, Gabriel and Dylan Waters and Nadia Waters; many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was a (DTM) Distinguished Toastmaster, active in the past with several local clubs including Chelmsford, Paul D. Stackpole and Wang clubs serving as President, VP of Education, Table Topics Speaker and Evaluator etc. She participated in many speech competitions over the years and loved it. Kathleen always loved to wear hats and was most known to wear her pink straw hat to dress up. She loved to sing and would always have music playing from Broadway show tunes to the Beatles. Kathleen loved working on jigsaw puzzles and would always have a puzzle-in-progress hidden under her dining room tablecloth. She loved gardening, walks along wooded paths and along the Merrimack River from Pawtucket Falls to the Rourke Bridge. Kathleen's remains will be taken to Baltimore where she will be laid to rest with her parents and children Theresa and William Waters in Lorraine Park Cemetery in Maryland.
