GROVELAND - Mary F. (Murphy) Culliford, 86, of Groveland passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, November 15, 2020.
Born April 21, 1934 in Haverhill, daughter of William F. and Helen V. Murphy. Mary was predeceased by her sister Barbara Murphy. She graduated from the St. James School and Chandler Secretarial School before working at the Boston and Maine Railroad with her husband until shortly before the birth of their daughter Nancy. Thereafter, Mary become a homemaker and active participant in many local organizations such as the YWCA, The Pentucket Regional School District and the Groveland Garden Club. Mary was also a devout Catholic and a longtime member of the St. Patrick and Sacred Heart Parishes.
Mary was kind and loving to anyone she met, and cherished the relationships that she had over the course of her life. She took great pride in her children and their accomplishments, as well as those of her husband. She will be remembered for her warmth, her smile and her loving nature.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Sydney B. Culliford; and is survived by her daughter Nancy G. Culliford of Groveland and son Robert B. Culliford of Hampton, NH; grandson Dagim R. Culliford of Hampton, NH; and her cat Katie. Mary is also survived by her sister in-law Nell Whiting of Brooklin, ME and brother and sister in-law Roger and Maureen Culliford of Atkinson, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
The Culliford Family is thankful for the kindness and care she received from her physician Dr. Farrah Mullah, the staff of the High Pointe Hospice House and her private caregivers that dedicated themselves to her care.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 20, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Services will be Saturday, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church , 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery. Please note to wear face coverings and social distancing measures will be in place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary's memory to either Merrimack Valley Hospice, c/o of High Pointe House, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence, MA 01843 or Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm St., Salisbury, MA 01952.
