Obituary

Marjorie Ellsworth Howell, a Revere High School graduate, Class of 1956, was born on August 31, 1937, and passed away on February 28, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Howell, a Revere High School graduate, Class of 1952. They were married on November 24, 1958, and shared many wonderful years together.

Marjorie retired from Raytheon in Bedford, MA, where she worked as a switchboard operator.

Marjorie was the devoted mother of three daughters: Kerri Howell of Folsom, CA; Kathy Gallant of Deerfield, NH; and Karol Flannery of Merrimac, MA. She was also a proud grandmother of four: Deidre Wilhousky of Seabrook, NH; Gunnar Gallant of Merrimac, MA; Sean Flannery; and Kyle Flannery of Merrimac, MA. She leaves behind her beloved great-granddaughter, Lorelai Wilhousky.

Marjorie was a talented seamstress and designer who always presented herself with elegance and style for any occasion. She lovingly created countless outfits for her daughters and grandchildren over the years. She had a passion for baking and was especially known for her New York-style cheesecakes, apple pies, and lemon meringue pies. An avid cook, she delighted her family with many favorite dishes, including homemade meatballs and sauce, baked macaroni and cheese, and American chop suey. Marjorie also had a green thumb and surrounded herself with beautiful gardens whenever possible.

She was also an avid reader and embraced new adventures, even taking up skiing in her 50s. She enjoyed running and participated in many road races. In her later years, she found joy in her daily walks around Merrimac and spending time visiting her daughter who lived nearby.

Her greatest memories were with family and friends at home in either Revere, MA or Ogunquit, Maine.

She was a deeply loved member of our family and will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the lasting impact she had on all who knew her.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 30, at Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green Street, Newburyport, beginning at 10:00 AM. A Celebration of Life to follow at Port Vida Mexican Cantina, 10 Center Street, Newburyport, beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the High Point Hospice House, in Haverhill, MA. Arrangements made by Driscoll Funeral Home, Haverhill.
