Obituary

HAVERHILL: Marjorie G. Charnley, 95, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away peacefully January 26, 2019.
Born in Lawrence on May 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Ruth (Perkins) Strong.
Marjorie worked for many years as a cook at Mission Towers and the former Stevens Bennett Home. She was very active in Haverhill's elderly community where she showed her compassion and dedication while reading to them and attending to their needs. In recognitions of her dedicated service at the Haverhill Council on Aging Marjorie was the recipient of the D. Raymond Taffe Award in 1998. She was a former member of the Groveland Congregational Church.
Marjorie raised her family in Haverhill's Ayers Village. She is survived by her three children, Richard Gaudreau and his fiancé Joan Croteau, of Haverhill, Thomas Charnley of Haverhill, Diane Bourdon and her husband Michael of Haverhill. She is also survived by many loving cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marjorie was predeceased by Kenneth Charnley, Paul Charnley and Elizabeth Gaudreau.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marjorie's life on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the Rock Church, 90 Newton Rd., Plaistow, NH 03865. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to groups associated with her passions; the elderly, animals and gardening. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill.
