AMESBURY: Marilu (Chambless) Dowaliby, 70, passed away on November 27, 2011 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. Mrs. Dowaliby was the wife of the late Gary Dowaliby.

Born in Portsmouth, VA on March 13, 1941, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Thelma I. (Woods) Chambless.

Marilu was a graduate of Mass Memorial School of Nursing, Class of 1963. While actively working as a nurse she pursued, and received, her MSW in Psychology from the School of Lifelong Learning, Class of 1984. She worked several years as a nurse, and retired in 1995 as Nurse Manager of the Erich Lindermann Mental Health Center in Boston. She was successful member and active supporter of AA for many years. Her interests included knitting, sewing, reading, and she enjoyed traveling throughout New England.

Marilu is survived by her children, Mark S. Vinton, Sr. and his wife June of Amesbury, Kimberly Burns and her husband Malcolm of Amesbury; grandchildren, Julieanna, Mark Jr., Rebecca, Malcolm, Nicholas; four great grandchildren; brother, Robert Chambless and his wife Jean of Charlestown, SC. She was the sister of the late Audrey Desrochers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Market Street Baptist Church in Amesbury. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill, MA.
