HAVERHILL: Margaret Ann MacLeod, 95, passed away peacefully at her home on May 8, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John T. MacLeod.
Born in Somerville, MA on February 4, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Margaret MacKay Browning.
Following her marriage to John, they raised five children in Haverhill's Riverside area before moving to Bradford which became their family home.
Margaret was Peg to her friends and coworkers, Mom to her children, and "Nonnie" to all her grandchildren. Her mantras, "Believe in yourself - Don't complain - Do your best," fueled her family's faith and dreams.
Peg graduated from Haverhill High School, worked at AT&T for over thirty years, and had been an active member of the First Baptist Church for many years. Peg was an avid reader and puzzle master who loved her dogs, and gardening. She could always be seen at the stadium walking her dogs or riding her lawnmower in the yard. Peg was always willing to lend an ear and give advice to anyone willing to listen.
Peg is survived by her children, John, Deborah, James, Judith, and Scott; her grandchildren, Alicia, Jillie, Emily, Shane, Kendra, Jonathan, Jesse, Kyle, Tessa, Jeremy, Jason, Devon; great grandchildren, Joaquin, Mikayla, Theodore, Henry, Molly, Kevin, Colton, Maeve, Millie, Rosemary, Ellie, Lucie, Mason; and niece, Judith Pulzzeti.
Peg was preceded in death by her husband John, her mother, Margaret Browning, and siblings, Edith, Alice, and Herbert.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill will be private with inurnment at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peg's memory may be made to MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. Messages on condolence may be sent to www.dcsfuneralhome.com
