HAVERHILL - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Elaine Michaud on Saturday, December 16 following a long, hard-fought battle with Alzheimer's Dementia. She was lovingly and patiently cared for by her husband of 30 years Douglas Michaud for whom we are eternally grateful.

Elaine was born and raised in Andover, MA, and following graduation from Andover High School she entered the work-world as a typesetter at The Lawrence Eagle Tribune. Elaine remained in the publishing world as a mark-up editor and code writer for nearly 40 years before returning to the Eagle Tribune where she was an assistant editor for obituaries as well as the author of "Trivial Tales" for five years.

In retirement, Elaine enjoyed reading, cooking, crosswords, and travelling. Her favorite trips were drives to the beach for a long walk, an arcade game, and a nice dinner. Elaine was also blessed with a great sense of humor and a greater laugh. Her favorite passion though was her dogs. Elaine and her husband adopted rescued greyhounds that they would bring to local nursing homes for patient visits.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Douglas "Dougie" Michaud, her three sons Christopher Gagnon and partner Heather Maitland (Peabody, MA), David Gagnon and partner Tammy Georgaklas (Kingston, NH), and Joel Gagnon and partner William Cox, Jr. (Haverhill, MA), stepchildren Jason Michaud and wife Laura (Pelham, NH) and Phaedra Michaud (Kathleen, GA), and sisters Susan O'Connell and husband Richard and Marcy Goulet and husband John, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. She is predeceased by her first husband of 26 years Maurice Gagnon, parents Henry and Irene Morin, and her sister Joan Miller.

Elaine's family would like to thank the staff of Aspen Hill Rehab and Healthcare Center for their superior care and kindness.

Elaine will be remembered by family and friends on Thursday, December 21, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
