Obituary

Haverhill: M. Jeanne (Gendron) Chareth, 98, died October 19, 2010 at Port Healthcare in Newburyport, MA. Mrs. Chareth was the wife of the late Leo J. Chareth.

The oldest of fifteen children, and formerly of Cedar Street, she was born on August 5, 1912 in Mont-Joli, Quebec, Canada where she received her education. Following her marriage to Leo she moved to Bradford in 1931. During the war she had taught the 4-H "canning" class at Fox School as part of the Victory Garden program. While living in Bradford she was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish, and following her move to Haverhill in 1944 she joined St. James Parish. Mrs. Chareth was an accomplished gardener, enjoyed knitting, and playing canasta with friends. For her selfless and dedicated service to the Haverhill Rotary Club she was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Her family was paramount in her life, and she was devoted to faithfully caring and nurturing them throughout her life. She will be dearly missed. The family would especially like to thank all the kind people who cared for Jeanne during her last days at The Port Healthcare Center, and also the kind people of Sol Amor Hospice. Their kindness will never be forgotten.

Mrs. Chareth is survived by her son, David Chareth of Amesbury; daughter, Gloria Fasulo of Haverhill; grandchildren, Edward, Lori and Leslie Fasulo, Brad and Marc Chareth and Melissa Jones, and ten great grandchildren.

Friends are invited to visit with family members after 8:30 a.m., on Friday, October 22nd , at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church.
