WINDHAM, NH - Leo F. Downing of Windham, NH and Naples, FL, formerly of Groveland, MA, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Beloved husband of Anne (Miller) Downing. Loving father of Linda Mullin and her husband Robert of Duxbury, Michael Downing and his wife Jacqueline of Barnstead, NH, Anne Helmstetter and her husband Christopher of Langhorne, PA and Laura Downing and her husband Gerald Fabiano of Boston. He was predeceased by his son J. Brian Downing. Devoted grandfather of six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cherished brother of Therese Stegall, Dedham, the late James Downing, Norwood, Beverly O'Rourke, Denver, Charles Downing, Westwood and Mary Linscott, Denver.

Leo graduated from Dedham High School and Northeastern University in 1954. He was employed for 25 years with Exxon and then with Energy North in Wakefield. He was active in politics in Massachusetts and he served on the Town of Groveland Board of Selectman for 15 years. He held many other town offices for over 20 years. Leo's greatest joys were family, traveling and golf. He enjoyed golfing at Countryside Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida, Hoodkroft Country Club in Derry, NH and Georgetown Country Club.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 29, in the Driscoll Funeral Home on 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill, MA from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Gathering Monday, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 114 Center Street, Groveland, MA at 10:00 AM. Private interment will be held at a later date.
