HAMPSTEAD, NH: Lawrence "Larry" Hubka passed away on Saturday, Nov. 27 th at Parkland Medical Center of ongoing medical issues. He was 88 years old.
Larry was born in Beatrice, Nebraska on February 13, 1933 to Rose (Kuntz) Hubka and James E. Hubka. He enjoyed his childhood on the farm in Virginia, NE where he graduated Valedictorian in 1950, he received scholarships to attend the University of Nebraska, earning a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. During this time he was inducted into Gamma Lambda and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia as an honorary member.
Two weeks after graduating he enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and served 44 months in Texas, Mississippi, Kansas, England, and New Hampshire. He was honorably discharged in October of 1957.
For 35 years he worked at Raytheon Company attaining the position of Section Manager of Product Assurance Test Engineering. During this time he earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Technology Degree from Lowell Tech Institute.
As a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Haverhill since 1958, he served in many capacities over the years, including usher, teacher, deacon, choir member, Prudential Committee Chairman, and Elder Chairman.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth L. (Ahern) Hubka of Hampstead, NH, son, James of Danville, NH, and his companion Paula Lemay, his brother Elmer and his wife Jane of Terrace Park OH, and two nieces. Sadly, his daughter Gail passed away suddenly in March, 2013.
Relatives and friends are invited to the calling hours at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, and 148 Main St., Haverhill, Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 217 Main St., Haverhill at 10:00 am on Friday, Dec. 3 rd . In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be designated to First Baptist Church of Haverhill. On-line condolences may be sent to www.dcsfuneralhome.com
