Obituary

HAVERHILL - Laurie Jean (Simmons) Lynch, 56, resident of Haverhill for 31 years, passed away peacefully at home with family after a yearlong battle with cancer on the morning of December 12, 2020.

Born in Melrose, Laurie was the daughter of Burton Simmons and the late Ethel Polley.  Married to her lifelong love David, together for 34 years and married for 25 years. She is survived by her husband David; loving children Samantha and Joshua; granddaughter Willow; father Burton Simmons and his wife Sharon; siblings Gregory Simmons and wife Terry, David Simmons and wife Debra and Stephanie Wright and husband Jack; many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Family was everything to Laurie and being a mom to Sam and Josh and recently nana to Willow were her greatest joys. Her lifetime love David cared for and provided for her needs over the past year in a loving and caring manner that is a legacy for her children to remember.

Laurie attended  Melrose schools where she was a cheerleader for the hockey team and graduated with the class of 1982. She retired after 30 years with Local 4 in 2019 and  her family is grateful to the members and friends of the Local for all their kindness, support, love and friendship. Laurie loved the water. With Dave  they enjoyed spending time at Winnipesaukee together at the West Alton Marina and time on their boat and times at the "Cottage." Summers included the beach at Salisbury and the annual August trip down the Saco River with her cousins and family. December brought the annual "cookie day" with her family. She loved to watch Sam at her ballet classes and Josh's basketball and baseball games. Most of all, she loved being a nana and simply being surrounded by her family. Laurie enjoyed country music and going to Luke Bryant and Tim McGraw concerts. She liked Charlie Brown, Lucy, Mickey Mouse, rockin' out on road trips with Stephanie while going to Maryland to visit family. Her pets Daisy and Lucy were her constant companions in health and in sickness and she loved them both. Laurie and Dave enjoyed trips to Aruba, Hawaii and trips to Florida. She will be missed.
