GEORGETOWN: L. Doris Lieberman, 87, formerly of Reading, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2013 at Penacook Place in Haverhill surrounded by her family.
Born in Cambridge, MA on October 11, 1925, Doris was the daughter of the late Charles and Emily (Jones) Lutz.
Doris graduated from Cambridge Latin, Class of 1943. Early in her career she worked as a secretary for H.P. Hood in Charlestown, later working as a secretary for A.W. Chesterton Co. in Woburn. Following her marriage she moved to Reading where she raised her family, and, in 2007, moved to Georgetown to be near her family.
Doris worked in her retirement for Mystic Valley Elder Service where she prepared meals for elders. She was born and raised in Christ Episcopal Church in Cambridge, and in later years found friendship and community at the Universalist Unitarian Church in Haverhill. Doris was appreciative of the time spent with her grandchildren, and summers at her cottage in Bridgeton, ME.
Doris is survived by her children, Gary Liebermann and his wife Dorothy of Bridgeton, ME, Charlie Liebermann and his wife Sally of Groveland, MA; grandchildren, Kyle, Sara, Luke and Jess Liebermann; brother, David Lutz of Marlboro, MA. She was the mother of the late Douglas Liebermann, and sister of the late Miriam Kane.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Universalist Unitarian Church, 15 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill to be followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. At the family's request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Donations in her memory may be made to The Stevens Bennett Home, 337 Main Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
