HAMPSTEAD, NH: Joyce E. Woodman, 83, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2019 at Colonial Poplin in Fremont, NH. She was the wife of the late William L. Woodman.
Born on March 21, 1936, Joyce was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Evelyn (Clark) Wakefield.
She was a lifelong resident of Hampstead, NH, graduating from Hampstead High School, Class of 1954 before attending hairdressing school in Lawrence, MA. As a dedicated hairdresser of many years, Joyce served her customers from her home, while also serving as a dispatcher for the Town of Hampstead Police Department.
Friends may remember Joyce as Bakery Manager at the former Custeau's Market where she worked for many years before its closing in 1997.
All will remember Joyce for her love of cooking and her many talents in the kitchen, where local and state police would often stop late at night to enjoy coffee and her homemade donuts. She was also an accomplished seamstress who took immense pride in making clothing, knitting sweaters and Christmas stockings for her family. Above all else, Joyce's biggest enjoyment was her family.
Joyce's family includes her children, Mark Woodman and his wife Cheryl of Fremont, NH, Larry Woodman and his wife Gretchen of Nottingham, NH, Alan Woodman and his wife Judy of Hampstead, NH, Dawn Thomas and her husband Ted of Belleair Bluff, FL; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Lawrence "Manny" Wakefield of Sacramento, CA, and a nephew, and grandniece. Joyce was the mother of the late Lisa Joy Woodman.
Joyce's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Colonial Poplin for the warm and loving care extended to Joyce during her time with them.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, December 28th at 10:00 am, at Hampstead Congregational Church, 61 Main St. Hampstead, NH. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill, MA.
