Haverhill: Josephine O. (Elms) Salvi, 87, passed away on March 29, 2013 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Salvi was the wife of the late Albert P. Salvi to whom she was married 63 years.

Born in Haverhill on November 5, 1925, Mrs. Salvi was the daughter of the late Howard A. and Emma-Leona (Roberts) Elms.

Josephine enjoyed a long and diverse work career which began in Haverhill's shoe industry, progressed to J.M. Fields, W.T. Grants and Keezer Manufacturing, and finally to Consoli Real Estate where she worked as a secretary until her retirement. She was a member of the Haverhill Campus of the Granite United Church and their Young at Hearts group. Josephine was an active member of the St. Joseph's Bowling League, and enjoyed knitting sweaters for her family. She demonstrated her devotion to others being a compassionate caregiver to her family and those in need.

Josephine is survived by her children, Pearle L. Salvi of Orlando, FL, John H. Salvi and his wife Cheryl of Haverhill, Jeffrey W. Salvi and his wife Laurie of Haverhill, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandson; brother, Howard A. Elms, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Utah, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Carrol A. Lattime, and sister of the late Wallace B. Elms.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Calling hours on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment at Linwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. #9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
