HAVERHILL - Joseph H. Rogers, Sr., 86, lifelong Haverhill resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Joe was born in Haverhill on May 29, 1933, one of five children of James and Beatrice (Chapman) Rogers. He was raised in Haverhill and attended Haverhill Trade School. Joe is a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force during Korea.
He is the cherished husband of Joann (Blinn) Rogers, together over 60 years. Joe worked for many years as a machinist for Hamel Leather Co. in Haverhill and General Electric until his retirement. His activities included fishing, photography, gardening, traveling and he especially enjoyed trips to Amish Country in Pennsylvania. He was a longtime member of The Greater Haverhill Korean War Veterans Chapter 294. Most of all, Joe enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His surviving family members in addition to his wife Joann, include his loving children Joseph H. Rogers, Jr. and wife Michelle, Michael Rogers and wife Janice, Richard Rogers, Mary Rogers, Judith Rogers and Theresa Tillberg and husband David; grandchildren Jessica Flynn, Derek Rogers, Lauren Rogers, Crystal Belanger, Natasha Dumont, James Rogers, Elizabeth Rogers, Nicholas Tillberg, Anastasia Tillberg, David Tillberg and Tyler Tillberg; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother of the late Mary Blair, James Rogers, Jr., John Rogers and Charlotte Ennis.
Visiting hours will be Friday, February 28, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will begin Saturday morning in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 11:00 AM. Interment with U.S. Air Force Honors will follow in Maplewood-North Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. For guestbook, please visit www.driscollcares.com
